Knowledge Updation

We conduct knowledge updation programs on chemical cleaning of boilers through video conferencing.

🧪

Tailored Solvents

Unit-specific solvent packages for complete deposit removal — no universal formulation suits an operating boiler.

The Challenge

The challenges BCAC addresses

Forced outages due to boiler tube failures cost utilities hundreds of millions of rupees. Water-side deposits reduce heat transfer, restrict flow, and foster corrosion. Clean internal heating surfaces minimise the chance of under-deposit corrosion (UDC) failures.

If equipment performance has to be maintained at design values with assured availability, deposits must be removed periodically. Chemical cleaning is a complex operation — every facet must be carefully planned and executed. “When and how” to clean an operating boiler is determined on a case-by-case basis through tube deposit analysis, deposit morphology, characterization and cleaning trials.

See How We Help

Key facts

  • BIS:10391-1994 calls for chemical cleaning when tube deposit quantity exceeds 40 mg/cm².
  • EPRI recommends deposit-quantity criteria based on drum operating pressure.
  • Cleaning decisions depend on deposit density, ease of cleaning and number of UDC failures.
  • After 5–6 years of operation, record deposition-rate history with density measurement every 2 years.

Our Process

From enquiry to recommendation in three steps

Enquiry & Quotation

On receipt of your enquiry, BCAC provides a formal quotation with deliverables and detailed instructions on where and how to cut tube samples.

Analysis & Trials

Tube samples are received at BCAC for laboratory analysis and cleaning trials to reach the cleaning decision and optimal solvent formulation.

Recommendation

We deliver a cleaning recommendation and a comprehensive report with the detailed cleaning procedure.
